The Sciences: An Integrated Approach;
by James Trefil; Robert Hazen

I came across this book a few years ago when I was searching for some supplementary reading for non-science majors.

This amazing book manages to cover everything from the atom to cosmology, from DNA to geology and plate tectonics, and all in a way that is interesting, with many real world examples.

by Richard Dawkins

All the evidence for evolution, observational, experimental and computational, is presented in by Dawkins in this semi popularization.

I was quite surprised to learn that every breed of dog in existence is descendent from the wolf! None are from the fox lineage or other seemingly related species!
How can we be sure? Read the book...:)
